Since February 2012, audiences in select cinemas all over Israel have been enjoying a “First Course” :
a short Israeli film (up to 10 minutes in length) which has been screened prior to the scheduled feature length film.
First Course (Mana Rishona in Hebrew) is a unique initiative of Greenproductions which endeavors to provide short films with greater exposure and to promote the short film format, which is still unfamiliar to most of the movie-going public.
The short films included in First Course have been carefully curated, with a focus on bold, edgy, and innovative new work. Including a variety of fiction, animation and documentary short films, First Course provides a brief but profound insight into the complexity of contemporary Israel and presents the varying perspectives of both established and emerging filmmakers.
All of the films included in the program, are award-winning and have received recognition in festivals around the world. We believe First Course is a survey of the work of Israel’s most talented and promising directors. Among these are Etgar Keret & Shira Geffen (Gellyfish), Guy Nattiv (Mabul, Stargers), Erez Tadmor (A Matter of Size, Strangers), Sharon Maymon (A Matter of Size), Eran Riklis (The Syrian Bride, Lemon Tree), Mihal Brezis & Oded Binnun (Aya), Gur Bentwich (Total Love), Adam Sanderson (This is Sodom), Yehezkel Lazarov, Tal Granit, and many more.
